Ethiopia Working Visit (Addis Ababa, Bahar Dar, Awassa)

Wednesday, Sept 21st, Friday, Sep 30th, 2011

ABOUT US

Computer Aid International is a UK registered charity that aims to reduce poverty through practical ICT solutions. We provide only the highest quality, professionally refurbished computers and laptops for reuse in education, health, agriculture and not-for-profit organisations in developing countries, in Africa, Asisa and Latin America of which the Ethiopian Knowledge and Technology Transfer Society (EKTTS) is a key partner indigenous NGO in Ethiopia.

In addition to the provision of PCs, Computer Aid works on numerous initiatives designed to further increase access to ICT among poor and disadvantaged communities including the provision of e-training programmes for nurses and low cost software for partially sighted individuals.

Most recently, Computer Aid has launched the ZubaBox, a solar powered IT hub, which will enable access to solar powered ICT anywhere in the world.

Computer Aid has shipped over 187,000 PCs to where they are most needed in more than 105 countries. So far, universities and NGOs in Ethiopia have received more than 7,000PCs from Computer Aid.

The Programmes Manager for East and South Africa Mr. Benjamin Makai will be visiting Ethiopia from September 21st, to 30th, 2011 to create awareness and also seek opportunities to expand PCs and Zuba box provision to Ethiopia. Mr. Benjamin will be joined during the visit by EKTTS Manager, Ato Haile Sellassie Kebede and any other available partners in the regions.
